Totally agree with this because I am surprised Katharine wasn't the lead since she had experience in horror. I guess they preferred to go for the eye candy instead and although I find Katharine more attractive than Monica, I guess it stood out more for them to go for the girl with the body to lead.

lol exactly i mean in this she has considerable and very obvious charms, assets if you catch my drift whereas katharine is flat up top.
what is interesting is since this movie i dont know of any movie monica has done which is so odd bc you'd think her being the main character in this would mean she gets a lot of offers for movie roles?

They wanted jugs for the lead not an actual good actress. No offence to Monica, she's pretty and all but her acting is somewhere between J. Love Hewitt and Denise Richards.
Katharine, in addition to being a terrific screamer, was much more likeable and sympathetic. And maybe it was because Katharine was / is Canadian. -

Sorry to get off track but the J. Love thing is pretty accurate too. She's another actress with jugs for the lead that got the role over the much better actress (Sarah Michelle Gellar.) Still, I'd much rather deal with J. Love than Monica though.

Apology accepted and I can't imagine Buffy with jugs and doing the whole Julie thing (maybe it's because I'm gay). I believe that there was an ep of one of those U.S. crime drama series where JLH gives a GREAT performance - I have not seen this ep. Meanwhile Ms. Keena was Abby in Dawson's Crack* but that's hardly a recommendation of her acting.
- I realise that's not the actual name but it might be a more fitting title.

don't see it , both of them i thought was horrible , and i never thought Katharine Isabelle came across very likable either in any of the movies i have seen of her in, she always has the same stuck up/depressed facial expression , her acting is better than keena's but that is not saying much at all, i mean if isabelle could really act she wouldnt be stuck doing crappy low budget horror movies , this is the biggest movie she was ever in and she wasn't even the lead

very good point i mean yeah to all the fanboys isabelle is beloved but that is just cult movies not mainstream horror movies. perfect point was yours if she is such a good actress then why has her whole career been stuck in not seen by anyone cult and low budget b movies?
some of this is typecasting but most of this is her own doing bc she adamantly constricts herself to nothing but low budget independent horror movies. and that restricts and minimizes your bankability and options for movie roles and what movies you get offered scripts for. bc if people only see you as the girl in these movies then that is all you'll get as far as movie scripts.
i don't and never will respect her as an actress bc she still has never shown any nudity in anything.

on a scale of 1-10 where do you think is j lo hewitt and same question for denise richards? i mean denise cant be that bad of an actress bc she was casted as a bond girl and that means she had to pass a strict acting test.
j love hewitt plays the same sweet, girl next door character in every single role hell even when being naughty and evil in heatbreakers she was sweet and innocent acting and fake acting winking at the camera. so she is a 1 dimensional actress i give her 2 out of 10 on this scale.
denise at least has to dig deep and has to have more acting talent than hewitt when she plays devious characters whereas playing good sweet characters doesn't require this. i give denise 4 out of 10 on this scale.

No. I think the leads should have been Lisa Wilcox and Thom Mathews. Alice and Tommy were the two characters that pushed both Freddy and Jason to their limits and beat them more than once and having Alice and Tommy return would have been good.

Katherine was originally supposed to play Monica's part and the role that Katherine ended up playing was originally going to be played by Emmanuelle Chriqui. New Line didn't want a Canadian playing the lead role so they forced Katherine to play the role of Gibb. A role she didn't want to play due to the nudity (Katherine refuses to do nudity due to her parents being in the film industry and watching every film she does). A side effect of Monica being cast in the lead role meant that Kane Hodder (who had already had meetings with the studio over continuing the role and had assumed by that point that he was going to come back) couldn't come back since New Line was at risk of losing the Canadian tax credit for hiring too many Americans.

I never liked Monica Keena in that role. That would've made more sense. I enthe movie, but there was so much loat potential, and it would've been better if it was made in the 90's like it was going to be. I remember hearing talk of FvJ since I was a little kid.
