but it ended up really being freddy but wtf? it was done in the real world will saw it while climbing up to her room apparently can someone explain this?
also.. it seems will nor mark really knew who freddy was did they just know the name but wasnt attacked by freddy? they didnt seem to know about him till they did research online -

I've wondered that too. I think either: Freddy took over Lori's fathers body (like he did with Freeburg, when he tranquilized Jason) and killed Lori's mother, or Lori's mother was dreaming about Freddy and being killed and maybe it was too late to save her and she was suffering, so her father killed her to stop her from suffering more.
Mark knew who Freddy was because he's dreamed about Freddy, and his brother "committed suicide" but was really killed by Freddy. -

Freddy has been shown to possess people in the franchise before. He possessed Freeburg in this movie, Jesse in Nightmare 2, his own corpse in Nightmare 3, and arguably Dan's corpse in Nightmare 5. Pretty sure it's safe to assume he just possessed Lori's dad.
Mark knew about Freddy but not the extent to which the town had covered up all the information about him.
I don't think Will knew anything; seems like the police knew that Freddy killed Lori's mom and so they quarantined Will with other kids, like Mark, who had been closer to Freddy if not directly in contact with him, just to be safe. -

Or maybe it was like in the third one with Tina. She's flying all over the room, and Rod is the only other person present. It was assumed Rod killed Tina.
Maybe Will witnessed Lori's mum being killed in a dream whilst her dad was in the same room. He assumed that Lori's dad did it.

I was thinking the same thing,that Lori's mom was being killed in the dream, while in the real world her dad was shaking her, trying to get her to wake up. Will saw that and assumed that her dad was killing her mom. Just my thoughts, could be wrong, though.
