I've asked this question before, and would love input from the fans regarding the identity of the real-life actor who Sofia had a strikingly similar friendship-relationship with??? I know Scarlett was channeling Sofia, and Giovanni and Anna were so totally obviously Spike Jonze and Cameron Diaz! This is based on Sofia's real lifeI've heard it was actually Bill Murray and he pretty much played himself BUT other actors who have been speculated like Sean Connery, Burt Reynolds and Bruce Willis all seem like possible candidates. He was definitely older than her at the time!

Very, very insightful post. Obviously Cameron Diaz. Thanks for sharing.

It was Harrison Ford (allegedly they had a romance at that hotel while he was filming a beer commercial)

She wrote the character with Bill Murray in mind. She said she would have abandoned the movie if Murray would have turned the role down.

I hope nobody thinks that Bill Murray's performance was just him being himself. It was beautiful acting. Nobody could have pulled it off like he did.
