Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Manderlay

    tinosoprano — 12 years ago(May 22, 2013 03:30 PM)

'Dogville' and 'Manderlay' surely are just the beginning to what must conclude in an epic trilogy finale: 'Washington'. I can rewatch the two films without getting bored and it'd be a shame if the meager box office of 'Manderlay' stood in the way of realising the third part of Von Trier's 'America Trilogy'. Then again, it has been only two years between the first two and almost nine since Eh
If ever there was a project worth kickstarting, it's 'Washington'.

You can watch a movie with no scenery and nothing happening and not get bored? I wish I could do that.

Personally, I thought it was interesting seeing the actors work in a setting like that. And I felt it enhanced the way the story was told. Can't wait to see "Washington"
        Great Job!

I'm hopeful its Lars' next project once the complete 5.5 hour version of "Nymph()maniac" is done.
His Depression Trilogy is quite excellent, but I would love to see what he has to say with "Washington".

Just use your brain. Don't expect the movie or it's director to do all of your thinking for you.
LvT is an imaginative director who demands an imaginative audience.

I certainly haven't given up hope. Lars is a mercurial man.

I was going to start a thread about "Washington," if one didn't exist. I am Very confused about this film. While So Often I read the trivia for every film I watch, specifically ones I Love/by directors I love; Dogville/Manderlay and Von Trier's films I Def Love. Maybe I just read the trivia years ago and the ones the Confuse me just were not up yet..idk. But recently watching both films, I just read/re-read today and am so confused.
What confuses me and if Anyone out there can help me (the internet has little or such contradicting information..), I would be Beyond Grateful for any info/answers here!! On BOTH trivia sections for Dogville and Manderlay it states those two films are the first parts of what I always called "the Grace trillogy," because I always forget the "US/American.." true trillogy title. But it States, on both pages trivia that the Third instalment is "Wasington" (2009). Yes spelled without an H, on Both, so I assumed it was just a title syalization or just the title of the film. But then on the Wiki pages (and other somewhat reliable sites..) for the other two films it says the title is spelled "Washington," but what confuses me on all other sites it states however the film is spelled; it is Not Out Yet. Nowhere other than IMDB triva (which is typicaly accurate; ESP the Same info on two different films' trivia pages!..) does it state the film was made in 2009 or made at all.
Like the posters on this thread, I too have been waiting with anticipation for the 3rd/final part!! And as I look at Von Trier's upcoming films Often, I Def Know I wouldn't have missed if "Washinton" was not only out, but had been sense 2009!! Briefly in horror I thought another director/writer made the film, explaining Why I didn't know of it. But there's no film in existence (maybe some short, but I think you know what I mean..) is titled "Wasington," so I have No Idea why it's spelled that way on the trivia pages. But moreso, again; why it says it's been made/2009?? Someone (maybe I will..) realy should get IMDB to change/ommend those trivias..unless I'm missing something here?? This thread is a bit old and as far as I can tell from numerous online sources, this thread included; the film isn't out yet..am I right? Some other director/writer DIDN'T make it, correct? (Even if by another director which would be ridiculous imo; I'd still actualy watch it..if it's one of Von Trier's friends he handed the 3rd part to for some reason..)
But it Certainly seems I and the rest of the fans are still waiting..right? If I'm missing something, and am ignorant about this film here; Please do let me know!.. But, if someone could just Confirm the film isn't out yet, and less important but still; the film is titled "Washington," not "Wasington."
This realy confused me; any helpful reply would be Much Appreciated!! Thanks in advance!!
