Very derivative of Cider House Rules also.
The lesson I take from this is that people are by nature in need of being ruled. The conflict is not between freedom and slavery no matter how many times the lead character uses the word.
The conflict is between two different versions of slavery, the traditional chattel slavery of the old south and the 20th century version which was socialism in various forms.
On the plus side, I really like natural redheads with small boobies.
