So I've often looked back on this dark chapter of my life (working as a server as a second job to make ends meet). It was a Bertucci's in Massachusetts that did not pay their servers, and claimed that tips alone were enough, citing what I believe were state laws. I usually averaged about $14/hr but at the end of the week these people would give me a "paycheck" stub for $0.00. This was customary for the servers. Looking back, I still don't understand how Bertucci's could get away with this, and it occasionally pisses me off to this day. Has anyone else dealt with something like this before?

So essentially your salary was your tips and by the looks of it, you got tipped very well. What you left out of your story is the part where you claimed 100% of them on your taxes which I'm going to seriously doubt you did so, again, cry me a freaking river. You made $14 an hour in tips and probably claimed about $7 an hour worth. I don't feel bad.
