Yes I read the posts that Victor's currency from Krakozhia would not
have been any good for a currency exchange and yet he did not even
have the logical sense to have bought travelers checks to use during
this visit to the USA!!! Not suggesting this is any plot hole just
find that it was not realistic and even a non-seasoned traveler like
himself could have and should have thought of carrying some travelers
checks for his trip!

Maybe they don't have traveler's checks in Krakozhia? And hadn't TC's been mostly phased out by the time this movie had been released? I know a few years back my Dad tried to get some for a trip my parents were taking and he was told they don't make them anymore. With the advent of credit/debit cards and online currency and such, they aren't used much anymore, if at all.

Well then perhaps you are right about traveler's checks no longer
being available since nowadays all travelers carry credit & debit
cards. However the movie was released ten years ago and I first
took a Florida vacation in spring of 2005 to visit my friend on
the gulf coast. And I was able to buy traveler's checks at my
former bank in CA before my trip. So just nine years ago these
items were still available at large commercial banks like
Bank of America and Wells Fargo though am uncertain about today.

Well, I live in Europe (Belgium) and the last time I bought TC's was more than 20 years ago. I guess they might have been still available in 2004, but I don't think many people used them anymore 10 years ago.
Also: Viktor didn't need much money, because he had only come to NY to get the missing autograph, not for an extended stay. -

Didn't the actress Charlize Theron have this problem when she arrived in LA? She had something like $300 in South African money but no TC's when she went to a bank and tried to deposit or cash the South African money.
Good people are always so sure they're right.
