It was supposed to exaggerate the miraculous nature, the virgin not only gave birth, but bore children of both races.
I saw it as saying this was an immaculate conception and all people, regardless of the petty differences we use to divide ourselves, are all children of the Higher Power.
SciFi-for those who understand the space outside the box is less crowded. -

Since the girl is capable of feeling what others feel and in addition to that she liked Toorup, is there any possibility she 'caused' one of the children to be black/mixed to mimic some kind of union with Toorup? Just thinking

Giving birth to black & white twins has happened before.
