Definition of a remake for normal film fans

A remake is taking an original film and filming the essential story over again with different actors/changes. Some remakes retain the original story more or less, but the majority of remakes will have the new director making changes and essential turning it into his/her film. That's why we have only in name sequels/you can call them same title different movie if it makes you feel better. They tried to do an exact remake of Pycho and you can see how well that turned out, different actors same exact lines and scenes. I will mention that some remakes are actually better than the original in my opinion.
