Agreed. I liked both and didn't expect to like the remake. Surprisingly good.

I liked the original..
Lawrence Harvey, Frank Sinatra and Angela Lansbury were great.
I finally watched the remake..
It was better than I expected.
Denzel was great.. as was Schreiber.
Streep had much less impact.
The ending on the original had much more impact.
