When Sandler uses the remote for first time to mute his barking dag how come he knew he can use the remote to control anything ! I mean come on..The scene was so illogical and senseless. The only way it would have made sense if Sandler becomes aware of remote accidentally like the remote falls suddenly to floor and it hits pause button and in turn pauses everyone around him or something like that

I think he was just playing around. He didn't intend for the remote to actually do anything that first use.

Like you've never mockingly pointed the remote at your pet/kids/self/whatever and pushed a button like it would actually do something?
Everyone does! I mute the kids, change my wife's channel and power off myself like a gun to the head.
        It's just silly human nature
