Looks like no Hellboy 3 is coming…

Hellboy is Guillermo's favorite comic book character and he clearly loved making these two films. Its just hard to get funding for them because they don't have the mass-appeal of Spider-Man or Batman.
I think if he got a budget and had the cast ready he'd jump at the chance to conclude his trilogy.

according to wikipedia "Del Toro has expressed interest in a sequel, saying, "I think we would all come back to do a third Hellboy, if they can wait for me to get out of Middle-Earth, but we don't know. Ron may want to do it sooner, but I certainly know where we're going with the movie on the third one."[47] On May 30, 2010, Guillermo del Toro dropped out of directing The Hobbit. On June 25, 2010, del Toro speculated that Hellboy III might happen after his next project. The screenplay has yet to be written."
could be old news or not who knows -

They NEED to. GdT promised a description of what would have happened in the 3rd one if they can't (WON'T) make it, but I don't want that, and I see no reason why they can't.
You're so profoundly sad.
No. It's just my people are Nordic. -

A lot of factors go into the timing of Hellboy 3, most importantly, whether the director has a series of flops or not. 2 or 3 kicks to the groin will get the gears turning quick on a guaranteed marketable project. Plus time heals all memories of exhaustion, as the production of HB2 must surely have been. What's beautiful about these movies is they use so much make up and effects it doesn't really matter how old the actors get. Even if it takes ten years, that's fine with me.

Yeah, but Ron is already 62. Not that that is ancient, but I feel that Hollywood sometimes thinks they have all the time in the world. I'd like to see a complete trilogy with these actors, not another freaking reboot. I love GdT's vision in these films. Golden Army, especially, was beautiful at times to watch.

I have no faith in the suits with the money. The bar has been raised. It's no big deal if a movie makes 100-200 million now. Blockbuster films have to rake in even more to finish in the black. As much as it is loved by fans we all know the "Hellboy" franchise underperformed. "Hellboy III" needs to be big in all ways but that's going to cost. I hope a 3rd film happens but I won't hold my breath.

Looks like del Toro and Perlman still want to do it though:

But it is clearly out of their hands. -
