Not half as "pretty awful" or "rediculous" as your ill-informed Wal*Mart opinion on one of the greatest, uniquely American art forms. Stick to that DRAGON BALL Z board, where your opinions may be on firmer ground and actual cultural knowledge.

The reality is that Dreamgirls is just a musical. It was developed by Condon, who had similar success in 2002's Chicago musical send up. The reality is that, motown's Berry Gordy never, ever developed a filmic bio of Michael Jackson or Diana Ross, which were two of the major influences in american pop music history.
Dreamgirls simply capitalized on that vacuum with 60s sounding musical-type performances, but could not deliver the real soul sound and shrouded allegory for what audiences really expected. The audiences yearned for a film, that fully detailed the ends on outs of stardom in 1960s motown era music, not a musical.
Not racism, just the sadly missing tribute to some of the greatest performers in history, that were likely short-changed in their legacy.

Here we go again. No way can a white person not like a black person for any reason other than their colour, can they? Ok, we're all racists. Whatever!
I found the moviw tedious, and was doing a sudoku throughout most of it, or I'd have fallen asleep.
On the other hand I just loved Berry Gordy's The Last Dragon with an all black cast.
Love is never having to say you're sober.

It can't be racism because I've seen other films with an all-black cast that didn't race through their already razor-thin plots. And I've also seen other musicals that didn't sacrifice their plot to jam in as many useless songs that don't advance the plot.
