I think pride and indignation had something to do with it.
She was a strong woman who wasnt going to ask anyone for help, especially people who were like family that turned on her and shut the door in her face.

It's amazing what women of ANY color will put up with, if they have hope things will be getting better somehow.
We ALL need to use our wisdom when it comes to dealing with men.
