Disappointing - Transcendence was better (spoilers)

I had high hopes for this one, but too much of the plot was tediously contrived (the whole power cut thing, Nathan's drinking problem), and the film at times tried too hard to be visceral for the sake of it - the senseless scene when Caleb cuts his arm open being a fine example. My biggest issue though was that the film failed to convey that the real potential power of AI in being part of and connected with the web - while there were hints here and there (how Nathan hacked smartphone sensors to mimic human expressions), for the most part it was as though the film had been made in the pre-Internet era. The flawed Transcendence did a much better job of conveying the real potential power of AI than this movie.
