This movie had a ridiculous premise to begin with and the execution was less than poor.
IV was kitsch but had an awesome bad guy and the greatest movie montage of all time. -

Yes I realise IV was dripping with cold war propaganda but the idea that an old man could last more than a round in the ring with the undisputed heavyweight world champion is absolutely laughable.
How would George Foreman do against Klitschko? -

That was the whole point of the movie! Dixon was the world champion on paper only because he had never been tested by a real fighter.

Actually there are robots that do exist, maybe not to the extent of the rocky 4 robot, but they do exist. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qh2yT-AL1V8

The point of the film was that Rocky wanted to kill the beast he had inside over having to forcibly retire, and then losing the love of his life. He knew he was old, but unlike Rocky IV, or even V, this time he was fighting for himself; he even wears his old high school colors again. Even the fight commentators mention that Rocky is good shape.

This is NOT rocket science. An athletic man in his prime would have a tremendous advantage over a former heavy weight champion who is more than double his age. You can be in 'good' shape all you want. When you are older, you are older, your body won't be able to take anywhere near as much punishment for various reasons. There is NO argument here, the movie tried too hard to pass this off like it's a good explanation of how he can go the distance with Dixon. It makes no sense!!!!!

I think every good fighter..every REALLY good fighter (or at least perceived that way by the public) has something "superhuman" about him. Creed had speed and confidence. Balboa had, what Creed called, "the hardest head in the business." Knock him down, he'll get right the hell back up again and come at you. Lang had rage and lust for doing bodily harm. He would have been perfectly happy taking that fight with Balboa to the street and leaving him for dead. Drago had size and strength (albeit partially artificial due to his 'roid use). Tommy Gunn had enough ego and confidence to challenge Balboa, not to mention a manager that put those thoughts in his head for him. I am not really sure what Dixon had besides heart. He almost seemed like the African-American version of Balboa but with the arrogance that Balboa lacked. Of course you have to suspend just a little bit of disbelief. Many folks had wondered for years what became of Balboa after V. We simply got answers to those questions. I don't believe they were trying to win an Oscar. It's pure entertainment.

Rocky 4 was entertaining and dramatic but laughably unrealistic. This one was more believable because The type of fighter Rocky was, age would not effect him as much as some other fighters. He could take an inordinate amount of punishment, and he never was that fast or good at avoiding punches anyway, the second Clubber fight after he was trained by Apollo notwithstanding.

The type of fighter Rocky was, age wouldn't effect him as much as many other fighters. His strength was always his hard head and power. That doesn't really go with age, speed and skill does. Rocky was never all that great at avoiding punches anyway, except for the second Clubber fight after he was trained by Apollo, which was probably when he was at his most dangerous.
As for George Foreman, do you mean now or when he was in his 50's? Considering he was almost 50 when he retired and still fighting well I think he'd have a shot at going the distance with Klitchko. I don't think he could beat him at that stage of his career, but George was a smart fighter and could always take a punch. -

Dixon didn't have heart, that was the main criticism against him in the film. The reason was because he was never really tested, always fighting fighters who are below him skill wise. He eventually does attain "heart" when he fights Rocky.
