Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Saw III

Most Saw fans seem to rank this one highly, often either as the best of the series or the second best behind the original, but I just can't agree with that. For me it's easily the worst of the seven movies and that's also taking into account some of the other weak entries like 7. For me it's just so tedious and boring, the only one of the seven that leaves me impatient for it to end. Beyond that I thought the storyline was dull largely thanks to Jeff being such an unlikeable and tedious character and Lynn not being much better and I think they really dropped the ball with the concept of Amanda as Jigsaw's successor. The way Saw II ended I looked forward to seeing that only for 3 to put it to total waste. This also marked when the series became more about being gruesome and disturbing than having a plot and when the series became more about the torture and bloodletting, and the ending for me was so predictable and lame with both Jigsaw and Amanda dying. The way the first two movies ended I was excited to see where it'd go from there but with this I just felt disappointed and gypped, a feeling none of the other films gave me (not even 5 with it's abrupt ending).
Anyone else regard 3 as the worst of the entire series?

You need to watch the rest of the series. It more or less wraps everything up.

As far as the Deteive storyline and some of Jigsaw's victims fates the rest of the series wraps it up. The "final chapter" also answers a lot of questions too. (No spoilers) It is rumored the upcoming "Saw" film will be a reboot. (It is rumored to be in development. Not a grantee it will be made.) So yes as per this set of films storylines are finished.

I actually think its the best. The weakest film in the series is part 5 (traps are kinda mediocre, and compared to the other entries its a little bland).

There was plenty of depth to the story, both with the Amanda storyline and Jeff confronting the people that he'd become consumed with hating. It's the most emotionally charged film in the series in the longshot.
Jeff having to burn his sons possessions to save the life of the judge (which Bousman came up with and is not in the original script) is one of the most poignant moments in the series.
2 out of 3 of Jeff's tests were mostly bloodless. It's the one that requires the most patience because it focuses most heavily on the emotional resonance, which is why some find it "boring."

You are a moron, this was the best film of the series and quite frankly the only good one.
