I probably wouldn't say the best movie of all time but I think it's right up there with them. I still can't stop raving about it, though.

Well, here are commonly thought of great films that Avengers is better than
      Tokyo Story
      Citizen Kane
      Vertigo
      North By Northwest
      Reservoir Dogs
      The Wild Bunch
Close Encounters Of The Third Kind
      Lawrence Of Arabia
      The Matrix
      Terminator 2: Judgment Day
      Alien
      2001: A Space Odyssey
The Good The Bad And The Ugly
      Blade Runner
Avengers beats every single one of those films rather easy.

Yes yes!! Avengers is better than all those boring movies put together! I mean all those movies struggle to show any philosophy while Avengers is a philosophers dream come true. The story bonds friendship and trust themes beautifully and tragically. Also the overall Kafkaesque feel of this film is just mind blowing.

I'm not joking when I say Avengers ia as epic as it deserves to be. I don't remember when I enjoyed a film THIS much and I really loved a lot of 2011s offerings.

Rest assured that The Avengers does delivers on every level and does so with great emotional moments. Its a movie that lives up to all the hype it has generated and will continue to generate now that people are seeing it and falling in love with it completely.

Critics and audiences agreed that Marvels The Avengers put the pop in popcorn movies last summer. That it turned out as well as it did is amazing, actually, if you consider that its directed by Joss Whedon, a guy who had only worked on one other full-length feature before (Serenity, 2005). But Whedon gets it. Theyre a mash-up; theyre insane, Whedon said. But the beauty of that is as exciting as the problem of that is daunting.

That's all that matters really. Best comic book movie could be the most entertaining movie ever given the current climate and where the cinema is heading.

Avengers is THE best comic book movie and that includes the graphic novel stuff like A History Of Violence and Road To Perdition. It's just that good.

If Avengers is the best of all-time then it stands to reason it's by far the best of the year 2012, right?

yeah no. Out of all the words I could use to describe this movie subtle and tragically inspirational do not come to mind.

There's quite a bit more subtlety than you've seemed willing to give it credit for, so far, including a moment where Banner reflects on what he's lost, a sibling rivalry of sorts between Tony and Steve that mirrors the rivalry between Thor and Loki, and the question of whether Loki's struggle with how he feels about Thor is genuine or just another of his tricks.
Tragically inspirational I can go along with, though. Don't see that in the film, even when you include Coulson's death.
In death, a member of the Avengers Initiative has a name. His name is Phil Coulson.

I also think all the Black Widow stuff was wonderfully subtle. Her interrogation of Loki and her down time with Clint are masterful. Her scene with Banner is one of the best of the entire year.
Tragic? No but the movie is very inspirational. The characters all inspire from Cap not backing down one bit to Tony making the sacrifice play.

Sarcasm aside, Avengers is literally the most enjoyable movie experience of the past 15 years. Does enjoyment and entertainment value count for everything?
