I don't know why it didn't seem extreme to me. I feel tortured and tormented every day, harassed and traumatized in ways that startle me physically and over time into the future.

Oh it's pretty extreme. If you don't mind spoilers, it's
one woman going after the baby inside another woman, because she feels like she's owed it
. And that would hit any woman at home, whether we have kids or not.
It's extreme because, well, it's gory for starters. But it's the main concept that's disturbing. And there have been a case or two that have hit pretty close to the premise in real life. Desperation and revenge. Very visceral. And that's why the 2 leads work as well as they do. They really cast this movie well. And it's pretty simple. No fancy backstory.

I'm sorry, but I just lost the page with my response to you.
I noticed horror stories are actually
        more intellectual
        … That's
        not
why I watch them. Like, the villain leaves something to be desired, Michael Myers, Chucky, Leprechaun, and Freddy. I've seen more than one movie starring each of these.
I really am into the supernatural, not the sci fi or fractured fantasy. It's because I've heard things… after I majored in music for a year… It makes the horror shows and paranormal shows more enjoyable. I don't know what I would have thought otherwise, maybe had a religious battle with myself. You know, I haven't left Florida long since hearing things, so maybe when I leave I will again! Some of the things I heard hurt and sometimes, though my world was messed up, the things I heard were pleasurable or funny… I can't remember a whole lot. One example of that is a wheezy voice, like from a cartoon but a more detailed sound, like a watery bubbly sound from up high, "How may I help you?" Actually this was in a place that is famous for the supernatural, Ohio, specifically I was by Cleveland. I know it touches the top of the country in that spot on the Great Lakes where it bends. I did hear detailed sounding footsteps that were of interest, too, think others heard footsteps in Ohio, too, maybe near Northern Ohio. I was in college and staying in a dorm, too. I'm not sure if you were interested in the details, but I thought it made sense to explain some of it.

Curious here, what do they leave to be desired?
Me, I like GORE. I like antagonists that have no redeeming arcs or qualities. I like them simple, preferably silent, with a high body count or at least a fun way of dispatching people.
But if I want to freak myself out for real, I take a long drive along a road with no street lights, while listening to creepy music. After a while a random car always comes up behind me, and I "paranoid" myself out because they of course stick to my tail, not wanting to pass me, and that move alone makes my heart beat faster because my imagination takes over. I've been known to do the same while walking offbeat roads or paths. Once it happened that I was with a friend of mine in Rome, and we were very drunk and a couple of guys tried to accost us, who knows how badly that could have gone, but that THING inside me came out….I laughed out loud, broke a bottle that was in the alleyway and said in Italian "finally some FUCKING FUN IN THIS TOWN. LET'S GO, and let this be a beautiful death!". The dudes ran away, much to my disappointment. They most likely thought I was too crazy to mess with. OH WELL.
          Won that tourney.
I get pumped on that sort of action. I'm just that kind of maniac. Don't
          ever
play chicken with the likes of me!

I just meant how bad guys seem inviting in movies and in real life.
You would have fun in New Orleans.
Driving alone out in the darkness sounds like bait for a UFO abduction. I think they say that here in the USA, if you're out alone in a wide open area you are more likely to be abducted and I guess better be careful. I used to watch that when I got the TV, too. Funny things that they say are true…
I wonder if you would find Orlando maybe amusing at first, hey it has the theme parks, but otherwise it might be rather strange for some kinds of people at least.

I kind of lost my taste for horror after this one. I stick to old ones mostly now.

The last new horror I liked was REC. I was on the edge of my seat for most of it.
