I think they wanted her to seem especially child-like and innocent but it was actually funny how goofy she was. She was basically the last teenager you'd ever want to send to Europe without an adult.

I saw this years ago and didn't remember her being so bad but watched it again last night and my god she was woeful. Her portrayal of a 17 year is the worst I've ever seen. Kim has the emotional intelligence of a turnip, and that stupid run made me want to trip her.
