Couldn't stand the mother

I have seen this a few times, and each time, right after the girl gets kidnapped, I feel like saying "told you so" to the mom. But it wasn't until this last time I watched it that I realized the mother never admits she was wrong or apologizes, even at the end when all is okay. It makes me wonder if the stuff she brings up at the beginning about him not being a good dad was really true. Because for most of the movie, he appears to be the better parent.

She was of the typical mindset that "something like this can never happen to me or my family" which so many people actually have in real life until something does happen to them. And even then they can't understand it. So many people who think life is all just roses.
