On a re-watch, that was a weak scene. Not the dump itself, but the fact that Tywin was having sex with his own son's mistress. Why would he do that? Unless they were implying that Tywin was, at some level, threatened by Tyrion, and needed to cuckold him. Bit of a stretch, that.
