Two people have the last name Snow. Jon and that little prick Ramsey Snow who's tormenting Theon Greyjoy, who's not that stellar a person either.
Are they related? How did Jon Snow get this last name instead of taking the name Stark? Maybe this becomes clear, but more likely it was talked about in a past episode and I forgot. I go long periods between episodes.
    Thank you.

All bastards are given a generic name indicating what region they're from. In the North it's 'Snow,' in Dorne it's 'Sand,' (like Ellaria) in the Crownlands (like Gendry) it's 'Waters' etc.
If they're legitimized then they get their father's name, like Jon wanted to be 'Jon Stark' and Ramsay's ambition is to become Ramsay Bolton.
'Honi soit qui mal y pense'

God forbid anyone should actually discuss the show on this board!
No, "Snow" is what bastards are called in the North.
Seventy-seven courses and a regicide, never a wedding like it!
