I think at this point they are just running out of stories to tell and probably getting burned out. Many of the actors and showrunners probably want to move on to something else in the near future.

D and D definitely want to move on. I don't think an extra 6 shows would have been a deal breaker though. From what I understand, they plan on using 10 shows worth of budget on the 7 shows because the cgi and battle scenes are going to be so expensive.

the "main" GoT story needs to be finished, i simply cannot imagine if this show gets like 4 or 5 more seasons, in these last 2 seasons(14-16 episodes) we gonna get lots of action, battles, dragons and beep and a whole lot of other stuff. so i am completely cool with that. we need some epic closure to end this series
idk where but i heard that we are definitely getting a spin off of some kind, so thats cool, it might be a mini series, or 2 seasons or something, i'm fine with anything tbh
and come on "lazy kuunts"??? have some respect dude, that thing you watch on your pretty screen, that beep takes time and money to make

While more always seems better, we don't know if's necessary yet until we see the final product. I am hoping it doesn't feel rushed, but the last 2 seasons have had a problem with pacing in the narrative. We'll see

This show has been great but it's in the final straight now, you can feel it. 14 more episodes should be more than enough to wrap things up. Do you really want to spend another 6 years watching Dany bumble around Westeros like she did in Essos? I don't.

the fact that this show is filmed in three different countries instead of just filming it in one country adds in a lot of extra costs. they have filming units for all those countries which puts all these crews under strain from being away from home and the timezone differences would make editing a nightmare. and things going wrong wouldn't help. so it's time for this show to end.
