Suppose I'm wading into the shark pit here but I had to find somewhere to rant! I've been staying with mum lately who spends much of her twilight years confirming that "Frost is solving the case" ! In an era of netflix and thousand other options I've nonetheless grown to enjoy the pace of the Frost, Lewis, Gently, Columbo, and others. Mom loves them all, and can watch the same episode three times in a week and enjoy them like a favorite movie she hasn't seen in years!
But here comes a 3-day marathon of Lynley. I hate to rant on something when I haven't said anything positive, and especially when I've done my best not to pay too much attention! But has Lynley ever questioned witness who wasn't completely adversarial! It seems every single encounter leads with "This is not a convenient time". Everyone acts like they're the prime suspect and they all have something better to be doing.
And sorry but I just don't buy Havers saving his life and him treating her like an unwanted stepchild. In one second he's telling her he trusts her more than anyone and the next he's yelling at her. And she's constantly calling him "Sir" I suppose it happens in Frost and Lewis but I just can't understand two people working together as partners and after many years she's still calling him "Sir" every three seconds!
I'd hate to be a policeman in the UK. It's seems a primary duty of a police constable is to get coffee for the Sergeant. And a primary duty of a Sergeant is to get coffee for the Inspector. And the primary duty of the Inspector is to get coffee for the Chief Inspector. And a primary duty of the Chief Inspector is to get coffee for the Superintendent. And a primary duty of the Superintendent is to get coffee for the Chief Superintendent. And a primary duty of the Chief Superintendent is the get coffee for the Queen.
Back to the marathon; Havers just got a new accent! -

Haver's new accent! ha ha! I can't believe they cast a new Helen and she looks exactly like Havers!!! OMG!

Can't you read a book, answer emails, do crosswords or any one of a hundred other things while your mum watches this and you occasionally make some sort noise in agreement?
Or has she got a gun to your head and is going to give you an exam on its contents at the marathon's end?
