Also if you like Appatow Help Me Help You is funny but its hard to find and there are only a few episodes. Other good shows were Better of Ted and in my opinion the best new comedy Modern Family. If you like or are willing to try British humor Coupling, Extras, Green Wing and The Inbetweeners are great.

Father Ted is one of my all time favorite shows. Did you like Black Books at all?
Someone mentioned Coupling, which was also a great show. Some people say it is like a British Friends, but I think it was much better, as I was never a huge Friends fan. Some other good British comedies are Spaced and Blackadder. There are actually quite a lot of good British comedy series, but they aren't for everyone.

Wait, you'd put Father Ted and Only Fools And Horses in an overlooked catagory? I was going to ask the same question of The Inbetweeners. Are you guys in America? I don't mean that in an offensive way, I'm jsut wondering if they're unheard of over there, because here in Britain they're pretty massive. Or were, depending. The ones that have already ending still have massive followings though.
        I think
        The Class
, which is where I first heard of Lizzy Caplan (which got me onto this awesome show). I thought that show was absolutely brilliant, and it was cancelled after only one season
Maybe just one or two more, before it would've gone stale like all comedies do, it would've been awesome.
It's not flying, it's falling. With style.

        Hobo.

Exactly. These are available in America but not well known or often overlooked because they are not American. I know full well that these are massive in the UK. How do you think I heard of them? From Brits.

            @ Oncoming Hobo
I am an American, and I know that Father Ted and some of the other British shows I and a few others listed are big in the UK, but they are mostly unknown here. So, while they absolutely aren't underrated or unknown in the UK, they pretty much are in the States. Most Americans don't watch British television unless they actively seek it out.

Were you asking for shows that are still on the air so maybe they can get some more attention before they actually do get cancelled?
Z Rock - really funny show on IFC, im not sure if it's cancelled. They had a second season. it's probably done bc that was awhile ago.

Sons and Daughters was a really good show on ABC in 2006 that was produced by Lorne Michaels and starred Fred Goss and was somewhat similar to Modern Family. I don't remember how they showed them but someone on the board said they had two episodes a week for five weeks and then it was gone, then I think I remember the 11th episode popping up online or something and I think the last two have never been seen. Amazing how often good shows get the axe and then they get replaced by a whole night of crap.

It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia, which shares a cool connection with this show: Fred Savage! He directed plenty of Sunny episodes and almost half of Party Down.

Sunny is amazing, it's gaining popularity though thankfully
Andy Richter Controls the Universe - was always hilarious and off beat
Titus - Brutal show, so funny and sad at the same time
laughs are cheap, I'm going for gasps

Definitely. That show was brutal funny but sadly didn't get the attention it deserved.
I am not going to mention Arrested Development (damn, I just did) because I think it got afterwards much fame and attention - well deserved to say the least.
It's Always Sunny in Philadephia is actually quite successful and gets always renewed for another season. Of course successful means in relation to the channel's overall viewers.
Better Off Ted - That show was criminally overlooked. I don't get why Modern Family (great show) is so successful whereas Better Off Ted failed so miserably. BoT is atleast as good as Modern Family. Only weak part is the girl who is playing Linda. The actress is not bad but compared to the rest of the cast she appears as an outcast.

Dog Bites Man was another good show that was its own type of comedy as well as Reno 911 and Knights of Prosperity.

Archer, Louie are other good new comedies on FX. A couple of shows I found on netflix that are good are Pushing Daisies, Firefly and Lucky Louie.

speaking of archer (which i love) if starz had put in half the promotional effort as archer maybe it would still be on the air.
ive been seeing ads for the new season of archer for weeks and it doesnt start until JANUARY! i never even heard of party down til the second season was over.
a little awareness can go a long way.

Oh I loved Knights of Prosperity! Sofia Vergara was so funny on that. I also loved the African-American guy who played Rockerfeller Butts. Pushing Daisies was adorable too and I was sad when it was cancelled. I also liked Undeclared, Extras, and I think I've seen every AD episode about five times. There is no other show out there that even approaches the genius.
The only quirky ones on tv now that I like are Weeds, Parks & Rec (except Rob Lowe who sucks in this), and the Office. Grim out there nowadays.

I hate sunny in Philadelphia. Characters are over the top and I hate them, nothing is relatable, most things they do are boring, plot is weak, everything is too unreal.

Man, I'm really enjoying Party Down. Just found out about it a few days ago. Watched the second season on Starz On Demand and almost finished with the first season via Netflix (I don't want it to end). Some of these have already been mentioned but:
