The missing "bonus" episode, my assumption…

My theory is that the bonus episode will be a stand alone episode which doesn't feature the main cast. We know Melanie Linsky's husband had a cameo role for season 2, yet he never appears, but I recall a set photo which may have shown him in the role of the hunter. Also, the fact that they have left it on the back burner while the series has still continued on anyway seems to tell me it will have nothing to do with the present timeline. I'm thinking it may be an episode dedicated to the hunter before he dies in the cabin. Maybe it will give some hints about where he came from/why he was there/what the symbols etc mean. Not sure why they postponed it though…maybe it wasn't completed initially and is still unfinished?

The consensus is that yes, the bonus episode has something to do with the history of the cabin. I think the reason they postponed it is because as they started thinking about season 3, they realized there might be good reason to link the cabin to former visits to the area by K.U.H. or folks like Kodi.

I haven't seen anyone really discussing the bonus episode, other than to vent annoyance that it was not released as promised. I am curious about Kodiak, I had not consodered that he could have known about the cabin before they got there…

Yeah, I agree about it being a story from the past, but I don't think they are ever going to confirm whether its supernatural or all psychological, I expect they will always leave some wiggle room there.

I do think it will primarily focus on the hunter, and maybe it will end with how he died. I doubt it will connect back to the man with no eyes (If that's who you were referring to?), it feels like they may have dropped that plotline after
revealing he was an ice cream shop mascot (wtf kind of mascot is that?)
but Idk maybe they will revisit it, or give some more information on how he relates back to Taissa's grandmother or why he appears in the visions that Akilah, Shauna, and Van had…I hope so anyway, the reveal on him was pretty anticlimactic imo. As for whether to confirm one way or the other, I hope it's left ambiguous also, people like that sense of mystique.

I must’ve missed the part where they confirmed no eyes is a ice cream mascot

Frankly I may have to rewatch season 1-2. I wasn’t really sold on the show until kinda late into its run and now see it has some really stellar story and writing, albeit with a good amount of fluff

Its in s03e03. I've been watching since season 1, I started watching for Christina Ricci because I saw she was in it and I just like how she always plays weirdos (this show being no exception) but I almost turned it off because it wasn't grasping my attention, until the scene where natalie starts tripping at the party, from then on i was pretty hooked. Season 1 was really good, season 2 got some mixed reviews but I thought it was the natural direction to go in and I was pleased with it, season 3 is pretty off the rails but that makes for an engaging TV experience.

I generally haven’t cared for the present day story and kinda tune it out. Which is unfortunate since obviously the two storylines play off eachother.
It’d be interesting if someone edits the opposing story out so it’s just the past story or the present story the whole way through (like they’ve edited out certain undesirable scenes from Star Wars)

It does in a lot of ways feel like 2 different shows running concurrently. I think a lot of the younger characters don't really connect with their older characters. Most, if not all, of the actors are really good and I think do their best, but that disconnect is noticeable I think. I do like both the present and past timelines though. I would have really liked more on what happened with Lottie and Travis in the present than what we got. Natalie is also probably my favorite character overall in both timelines, so I was not happy to see her go. Even Van is growing on me, and she is one of the more believable characters as far as young & old matching up. An edit would be interesting, but that'd be a pretty massive project for a fan to put together.
