I just watched the season 2 premier episode and I agree. What the hell were they thinking?
Some months back I finally watched the first season, which had a few decent episodes, but since I didn't love it decided to take some off before I start the second season.
This is how they kicked it off?
There are so many things wrong with this episode, it's so depressing.
If you like great effects and production this episode is for you.
If you like great stories and characters? Look elsewhere.
With the exception of Pike and Number One (who both only appear briefly in this episode) I would recast everyone else and get rid of certain characters completely. Especially Ortega.
This version of Spock is easily the worst. Why bother even pretending he is Vulcan.
And, yes, Carol Kane's character was odd to say the least.
I can only hope this is rock bottom and the second episode has to be an improvement.
I can already tell the Gorn (aka Ridley Scott's Alien) will figure prominently in some kind of season long arc culminating in a massive battle. And I am sure the Klingons will be tossed in again, too. More bloodwine for Spock?
