What I don't get about global warming, why do they never mention the arms industry?
Bang on at ordinary joe like us, recycle your shopping bags, empty your glass jars! It's good not to waste, waste not, want not as the saying goes.
As one comedian said, "I feel like I've turned up to an earthquake with a dust pan and brush, I'll do this little bit here, and you can take care of allllllll of that."
But I think if I recycled 1,000,000,000 shopping bags and glasses combined, it wouldn't make up for the carbon footprint of 1 tank.
Just thought I'd compare a top Ferrari with a tank.
"Your stock Ferrari 360 Modena is powered by a 3.6-liter naturally aspired V-8 engine that delivers a total of 405 horsepower."
Wow, hold your horses that's a lot!! Now the tank
"The tank was powered by a new V-54 12-cylinder 38.88 litre water-cooled diesel enginedevelop up to 1500 horsepower." ~ " Fuel capacity was increased to 530 litres in the internal fuel tank and 165 litres in the external fuel tank." That's a lot of fuel.wonder what the mpg is. (T-51/54 tank, that's old keep in mind!)
I also wonder joyfully about the carbon footprint of handguns, machine guns, miniguns, assault rifles, sniper rifles, grenades, rpg's, stingers, helicopters, jets, planes, destroyers, cruisers, aircraft carriers, gunboats, submarines, sam sites, aa guns, nuclear sites, think I've made my point. Oh wait forgot to mention the maintenance and logistics behind all that, oh and the ammunition, oh and I haven't even started on technological or biological warfare. Deary me!
It's good to recycle, one shouldn't waste because we are so very privileged, but I am sick to death of people blaming ordinary joe & jane and guilt tripping us like it's our fault yet not even a mention of the military industrial complex.

The ways to look at this goes on
It's not a tank but using that example. If you don't make the tank or b2 bomber or whatever then we become lesser of a serious threat in the world and therefore we tell, say Syria, stop slaughtering u our people. They say "lol u won't do something and ur making big military cutbacks". Now we have MASS refugee issues world wide; it's major global disaster now. There's no way to accurately screen all these refugees and ISIS knows it so it's complicated when we are the hands down biggest meanest kids on the block. Ha, Russia is busting the butts to change that and is making as many tanks and arms in general as they possible can right now given their crap economy. And by the way giving that stuff to Syria and Iran, lol.
Anyways it doesn't have to be a tank, make it a cruise ship or jet. You wanna cut back on carbon those aren't really good for the environment.
And I can go on about how much energy it takes to perform, process the whole recycling systems. I've seen news that it takes so much power and fuel for vehicles and transportation even meltdown that the recycling effort is just a wash.

Of course everybody should contribute. However, there are 2 big differences between tanks and shopping bags:

        1. There are only a a couple thousands of tanks operating but we are BILLIONs of people wasting resources every day!
        2. There is no substitute for a tank and it's intended purpose while you could and should reuse the same shopping bag made of fabric instead of buying a new plastic one each time you go shopping.
Besides, it doesn't help the matter at all when you start pointing fingers "but there are people wasting more than me!". It's convenient, yes, but doesn't change the fact that you are wasting resources.
And let's not forget one thing: We that we are typing on our keyboards having leasure discussions on the internet are actually very privileged! You might think of yourself as middle class or even poor, but as a matter of fact, if you have access to internet and can afford to shop in supermarkets and buy glass bottles of whatever beverage you want, then you actually belong to the privileged 10% of the world population that live to very high standards compared to the rest of the world! Is it really asked too much to recycle some of the things you consume in abundance? Really? Do I need to tell you what other people have to do just to survive the day?
Don't get me wrong, the military industrial complex is a disgusting apparatus that hurts society and humanity a lot but it's an entirely different story and the fact they waste, too, does NOT get you off the hook!
