What happened to Amaury Nolasco's character Det. Rene Cordero?

i'm finished the 2nd season, he was replaced by Clifton Collins Jr's character Det. Ray Suarez. don't remember any mention of his reason for leaving?

After Russell got shot at the end of Season 1 in Season 2 Lydia goes through several partners without explanation. One episode Detective Alicia Fernandez (her boss) said that Ray was in Court for the day and that's it until she has was paired with Detective Josie Ochoa until she finds out Lydia is banging her son. Then in Seasons 4 and 5 she get paired successfully with Detective Ruben Robinson.

I thought I had missed an episodegeez that's the strangest story line ever..one episode they're going for a drink after a long day (and seemingly finally accepting of each other) and the next day she has a new partner. And does anyone know why there are only 6 episodes in Season 2? Seems small like a Brit show.

Found this info on a wikki :
"In March 2010, Nolasco began a guest starring role in the second season of Southland as Detective Rene Cordero. The show was canceled by NBC while filming the season. Nolasco did not return when the show was picked up and renewed by NBC."
So looks like the show was temporarily on the rocks and the actor said screw this and moved on.
