Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — Taken 2

Action movies are known for including imposing and intimidating henchman, who are usually stronger and more dangerous than the protagonists.
The henchman in Taken 2, though, is so ridiculous and not believable as a threat. He looks like someone's soccer loving uncle rather than in imposing bad guy. It is so laughable, and so far fatched that he is an actual threat to Bryan Mills. Bryan would be able to kick him over a fence, he's that small.
Bryan is CIA. That short fat dude is just a regular thug. He would have NO chance in a fight.

A mafia thug like that would have more fights under his belt than a CIA agent. Brawling is not actually CIA job

I'm pretty sure CIA learn hand to hand combat or highly skilled fighting techniques.

"Learning" is overrated. You can't train for real combat that much. You have to fight in street fights, gang fights, bars etc to learn how to fight. Nothing can prepare you for unpredictability of a real fight, you can train all you want.
In real life, a CIA agent would probably get beat up by a mafia thug like that.

you have no idea what you are talking about.
every C.I.A field operative is highly trained in hand to hand combat. fighting in the street is not the same as fighting someone with high amounts of training
the C.I.A have methods in which you can learn 30 years of martial arts in weeks
and fight drills are all the rage.
a single drill for fighting will teach you more about fighting than 20 fights in a street fight

that dude was really quick with his hands though. he did look somewhat out of shape for a main henchman though.

that dude was also the stunt coordinator for the movie, so I'm pretty sure he can fight.
