More than a decade ago I owned a book about famous special missions; the second chapter was about how Erwin Rommel contributed to the Central Powers' victory at Caporetto.
The first chapter was about a German mission inside Romania in 1916. Its commanderlet's call him Captain Potsdamwas supposed to test the ground for a possible Central Powers' counteroffensive against Romania. As he infiltrated a village by the Danube, he stumbled upon a Romanian force that proceeded to attack his men. Although they were seriously outnumbered, the Germans put up a stiff resistance. They found some Austrian prisoners in the village jail, and gave them Romanian rifles in order to join the fight. Late at night they were also joined by a Bulgarian detachment whose commander took the initiative of crossing the Danube in order to help in their fight; that reinforcement did not come too early, for by then the German machine guns were so overheated that they were in danger of exploding.
The battle continued into the new day, when finally the approach of a German army forced the Romanians to retreat. Amazingly, despite having fought without interruption for two days, Captain Potsdam did not lose a single one of his men. The Romanians were not so lucky, as they lost a good 600 dead, which means that this fighta mere skirmish by the standards of WWIwas a veritable mini Verdun and mini Somme. More importantly, this battle showed the Germans a weakness in the Romanian lines which they proceeded to exploit, with the result that, by the end of 1916, the Central Powers had overran Romania and taken possession of the priceless oil fields of Ploesti.
I truly regret having sold this book for a mere fraction of its true value, so now I want to get it back through ebay. Does anyone here know which book is this, please?

Hi, HijodelCid. You may want to also try the Books, History and possibly the War Films boards. You'd probably have better luck on those.
