While she might be an expert in the bedroom, we really have to give this guy a bit of a Looker. I'm not saying Dr. Ruth is homely. She seems like a very sweet old lady. Old being the key word.
    Is she still alive?

There was a TV show, but I can't stand the actress who played her.
I just couldn't picture Kate Mulgrew as Columbo's wife.

That's true. On Columbo, it was a nice gimmick. She was talked about, but never seen. Other shows like Cheers and Frasier have done that.
In the late 70s, there was a short lived show called Mrs. Columbo.
            Here is the intro…

I only picture Kate Mulgrew as she is the only actress to portray her.

                Gena Rowlands.
You've seen Guy Standeven in something because the man was in everything.

After having seen her in A Woman Under the Influence with Peter Falk, I can definitely see her as Mrs. Columbo!

                    Gena Rowlands would have been
                    wonderful!!
And such a sweet tribute to their decades of friendship.

                        Someone like Edith Bunker/Jean Stapleton.
That is, a wife who would have some weight on her and somewhere between attractive and homely.
