They're driven, in large part, by the cult of personality around Donald Trump. They don't care that he rapes kid. Indeed, they would see it as a great honor if he were to rape their children.

I was thinking of a book I read (Strangers In Their Own Land) which showed how poor whites (usually Republicans) would rather starve or die than support legislation that a) helps blacks and immigrants forward, or b) was somehow "big government"(this would include environmental protection for communities living next door to toxic waste-producing plants, dead rivers, and the most polluted land in the U.S.).
I think this, more than any other book I've read recently, made me realize how much Republicans hate the left. -

The left here seems massive, but that's only because of the tremendous intellectual distinction displayed. In sheer numbers, the right is much larger.
