He'll be remembered by serious filmgoers for Quills, Shine, Swimming Upstream and a half dozen other films. Phoenix will be remembered as the cringe actor who did The Joker. When he gets older he will try to destroy all copies of the film, but it'll be too late….

— 10 months ago(May 22, 2025 03:12 PM)you damn know i'm right about Rush. as for Phoenix, he won an Oscar (among ca 80 other award nominations) for playing The Joker. idk why he would want to destroy that film lol. he also got nominated for
Walk the Line
playing Johnny Cash, for his lead role in PT Anderson's masterful
The Master
and for
Gladiator
when he was barely 27 years old. that's what he will be remembered for.

I liked him in
Gladiator
(the only film of his I liked; but then Russell Crowe was glorious in that). I couldn't watch more than a few minutes of
The Joker
–one of the worst films I've ever seen (or not seen, if you want to quibble). He was decent in
You Were Never Really Here
. I haven't seen
Walk the Line
(I hear he was good in that). I stand by what I said: a cringe actor who is desperate to be Robert De Niro but can't pull it off. -

Beau Is Afraid
,
The Master
,
Her
,
Inherent Vice
,
Irrational Man
,
The Immigrant
, and
Walk the Line
before you can form a qualified valid opinion on him, please and thanks.
as for Rush, i think he's good enough. i can give you that. okay?
