You can still get an English degree. I had a mature (ahem) student in my Critical Theory class. She was in her sixties, and waylaid me on my way to my office every day….
Golly Gee! Thanks!
With today's word salad, I assumed that I had no trouble conveying my thoughts!
So tell me…
Where may I find you?
Where is your office on this day?
You asked a pretty question; I've given you the ugly answer.
Fasten Your Seatbelts….
It's Going To Be A Bumpy Night! -

Well, you could be in Medieval Studies, where there would be about a dozen courses. Or you could be in Elizabethan Litt, and teach a half dozen courses on Shakespeare alone. Or you could be a Romanticist, and teach from any of about two dozen courses (Wordsworth, Shelley, Keats, Romantic prose, Romantic ecology). Or you could be a Victorian specialist (another two dozen, easy). Or you could be a Modernist (three dozen, maybe). Or a postmodernist (another 3 dozen). Or you could teach feminism. Or postcolonial Litt. Or Black American writing. Or the novel. Or popular culture. There's no end, really.
