Let me begin by saying that I don't think an averagely intelligent person
can
be in favour of unrestricted gun-ownership. You have to be very, very stupid to be in favour of such an argument.
Of the many stupid people who take this incredibly stupid position, possibly the stupidest are the people who say, with the air of a Newton enunciating the laws of motion: Guns don't kill people, people do. What morons!
Americans are among the least educated people in the civilized world, despite having some of the best universities and libraries in the world, but nothing demonstrates their ignorance and stupidity as clearly as the attitude to gun-ownership. -

I like Canada’s system a lot. Take a four hour class, get a license, and then get most anything you want shipped to your stoop. (Garrands and levers, who needs much else?)
But they should give pistol licenses to whoever has a good reason (being a girl a good reason).
