Why doesn't anyone want to give that show a chance? I just started season 2b with 'grotesque' and 'Los muertos' and they were EXCELLENT. As good as TWD at it's best I'd say. FTWD has a rocky beginning, but you'd be kidding yourself if you said TWD didn't either.
If anyone wants to talk about Fear with me, I'll be here until the boards close.
What if the virus actually killed Nick from exposing himself to zombies so much? Would it be tragic and add some good weight, or would we be losing the best character?

We have a week left before we are all purged, nobody wants to talk about it on its own board, THIS board is littered with troll posts, and you have the AUDACITY to tell me what to do? Lucille give me strength.

The first episode of The Walking dead is one of the greatest pilots ever made.

The pilot, sure. But most of seasons 1 and 2 was a soap opera.
FTWD has given me what I've always wanted to see in TWD: a man vs. wild episode. 'Grotesque' was a milestone not just for Fear, but for TWD universe. Then we get some REAL horror in 'Los muertos'. That hotel is creepy as beep!
The religious way that most of Mexico views the dead is also fresh and interesting, rather than the typical "we gotta survive and kill every walker" mentality from TWD.
Plus Nick fully utilizing Rick's 'guts' idea is a smart move. I often thought "why don't they do that more?? on TWD. It would sure save them a ton of trouble.

This has been pointed out on the show's board numerous times: Nick isn't really putting the zombies' guts on himself, he's really only donning their blood. It makes me wonder how he gets away with it. Either that or why do TWD cast people have to use the stinking guts? Strange, maybe a plot hole.

How much of a chance does it need? I watched 10 bloody episodes of that crap, and they were all crap.
                Just watched "Grotesque" no improvement.
                Burn the whole effing thing.

Grotesque was one of the best episodes in either series. It displayed survival at its purest and provided some much-needed context to Nick. I remember HATING him in the pilot, now he's one of my favorite characters.

FTWD doesn't have any characters as likeable as the best from TWD. Actually, it seems to me that the former show's writers try to keep its characters rather
                    unlikeable.
If the virus killed Nick from exposing himself to the zombies (and maybe the blood) so much, it'd add some weight. However, the best character is Ruben Blades' M.I.A. character, Daniel.

Nick, strand, daniel, and Travis are the best characters. I don't see how they're 'unlikeable'. Travis, perhaps. But the other 3 are very entertaining.
I'm loving the Mexico setting. Don't know much about Tijuana, but they sure made it look like a 3rd world hellscape.

Strand is a nasty piece of work who seems to mostly only care about himself, regardless of the circumstances. Maybe it's a fee upon entrance in the TWD universe that such a guy be "likeable," but I will continue to have reservations about him.

Selfish sociopaths are the heart and soul of TWD. but I'd hardly call Strand that, he was pretty generous.

Well, he jerked Alex and burnt-up boy when they were on that raft or whatever it was tied to his boat like he couldn't do it quickly enough.

I sure do see that as a running theme. The "Everyone's a jerk" story (I.E. Seinfeld.)
I like Nick, but we sure could use a couple of "good-guys"!

I've given it a chance and I even watched the premiere of season 2. It sucks. It's a terrible show and it should be cancelled.

I've given it a chance but its just not a good show. The characters are absolutely horrible. Nick and Strand are the only ones I semi care about. I do hope it gets better but seeing as the same writers are still running things I don't think it will.

Many character decisions are awful, but it has more horror and survival than TWD. It just oozes production value as well. The Abigail, the pirates' harbor, the Tijuana village. It's all so beautiful.

Nothing in FTWD comes anywhere close to TWD. FTWD is basically a B horror movie in tv show form.
The setting in Mexico is no good. It doesn't even feel like an apocalypse is happening. It just feels like they're in some run down 3rd world country.

That's because there are still pockets of civilization that haven't been fully hit by the ZA yet. Keep in mind that Rickcs group came out of Atlanta, a pretty big city that was quickly overrun. SoCal/Mexico has towns isolated between tons and tons of mountains that the walkers can't just walk over.

They should have just stayed in LA or moved somewhere north along the coast. Mexico feels so dull to me. But despite that thats the least of the shows problems.
