I just finished watching this movie and I thought the exact same thing. What a horrible ending. It didn't explain anything. All that build up for nothing.

I'm hoping the sequel does well, so that the directors have enough money to make a special edition with an appropriate 3rd act. Researching how this film was made, the Strausses self financed it on a shoestring budget. The movie has great potentional, but you can tell they had to wrap it up hastily due to costs.

Ironically aside from a few dud and very annoying characters the bromance in the beginning and middle was the only thing carrying the movie. Then they did a 180 for like the 3rd or 4th time into an entirely different and even worse movie that made no sense.
It's like 5 bad movies in one making the worst movie of all time. It was like listening to a toddler tell a story.
And then they were pirates and then a spaceship came and blew up all the Pokemon but they were saved by a shiny Pokemon and a boat in a car and explosions the end.

You are a moron. The ending is great, and quite obviously, was left open for a sequel.

I loved the ending too, one of my favorite things about the movie.

Me too! It wasn't cliche or or predictable. Great cgi and practical effects. It is only disappointing if they never make a sequel.

They ran out of money that's why they couldn't finish the ending. You do know this movie was made on a budget of only $10 million dollars? The results were pretty good for movie with lots of impressive effects on a threadbare, shoestring budget. A movie that looks like this would normally cost at least $30 million today. The directors happen to be visual effects engineers so they know how to make a good looking movie for cheap. James Cameron also had a background in special effects guy before becoming a director.

True the ending was terribly abrupt but excellent visual effects though

I don't get the ending myself,
they get Jarrod's brain but now he has full control of an alien exoskeletonWHAT?!!! That makes no sense, what made his brain so special to allow him to keep his Human self-conscious? And after that the movie just ends.
I guess the people who made this movie ran out of money, that's why the ending seems so abrupt.
I say this movie is just poor, non of the characters are very likeable and they used video game level CGI. I suppose they did try to make it a good movie but it's not good enough.

If you had paid any attention to the movie at all you knew why Jarod could control the alien.

The ending left me saying WTF to myself.. But I'll give it credit, as they show the empty cities across America, it's one of the few alien movies that doesn't end with humans winning. In fact it's about the only movie I know where it appears we lose. But then again, I didn't quite get what was going on, so maybe we will come back. Anyone else I know who saw it also didn't know exactly what Halle Ed in the end. I think if it were explained better, more people may have liked it.

Personally, I thought the movie was sadly mediocre (and that was plot/character problems, not effects/budget problems). There were two excellent scenes The little Drone that could, and the last five minutes. I thought the ending was great fun. It was right out of good old-fashioned 50s scifi. Hero gets brain transplanted into powerful alien body and can now save the woman he loves!!
                            That's
the movie I wanted to see. If they'd got to that point in the first half hour/45 minutes, it could've been awesome.

To me the best part was the drone fight and getting the missle off at the last second. I think if there was more of that, the. The movie would have been better. If they had explained why he was able to keep his brain and consciousness the ending would have made more sense. My take was that it was his love that allowed him to do this. But they didn't make it seem like the love was enough to me if that was the reason. The ending just came out of nowhere to me, and took forever to get there. I've said it somewhere else, but I want to see the aliens here versus the aliens from Battle: LA or Battleship aliens.
