New sci-fi thriller series on Netflix starring Winona Ryder story takes place in the 1980's and is a mix of E.T./Super 8/Goonies. I binge-watched the whole series in one day show it was incredible.
This show is even better than Super8 in my opinion.

It's a brilliant, intense show. Finishing it this weekend. Super 8 is one of my favorite SciFi movies of all time. And this show is more than living up to the standard Super 8 left for me.

I agree it's one of the best shows I've seen in awhile. I saw the trailer #2 and I was so hyped but feared the show wouldn't live up to my expectations but fulfilled everything I wanted to see.
Generally we only experience good sci-fi/80's nostalgia by waiting for a movie but it was awesome that they translated it to T.V. so successfully. -

I'm 2 eps in and although it's GREAT for Super 8 fans it doesn't have the same emotional effect on me as Super 8 doesI literally BALL when i see this movie, I really can't put my finger on why, but literally all it takes is the original score to get me tearing up.

I agree. Super 8 hooked me better, emotionally compared to Stranger Things. It also took me one episode to adjust to the kids from Stranger Things because the kids from Super 8 are just superb in terms of acting and interaction. It's hard for Stranger Things to top that.
Super 8's score is better than Stranger Things too. I get the John Carpenter inspired score of Stranger Things but it doesn't go bold enough to manipulate your emotions like Super 8's score does.
That being said, I still love Stranger Things and I can't wait for a second season. -

I think I live both equally. Different strengths to each.
Stranger Things has better stakes and better developed characters besides the mains. Super 8 is having a lot more fun and is a great easy watch for fun, and the Super 8 soundtrack is just unmatched. -

Good suggestion! And for those who liked those, there's actually a ton of good
shows like Stranger Things / Super 8
to binge watch. Fringe for its sci fi dimensions, for sure. Let The Right One In also has main characters with a startlingly similar relation to the two child leads in ST (i.e. themes of bullying, young love, etc.).
The first season of Wayward Pines too - some episodes were written by the same team as ST!
