I would feel annoyed, but I would understand it was for the greater good (of my captors).
You primarily have 2 choices. Play nice and form friendly relations with the alien people, or not play nice and try to steal all the technology you can. The US military chose to not play nice. -

beep you would. You would be ROYALLY pissed off if you were held for 20 years for absolutely no reason. And what greater good is served by holding the alien anyway?

- The alien is hardly bloodthirsty. It's hungry, and it's been held for no apparent reason for 2 decades. Don't you think you would be pissed off if you just wanted to go home but were being held by some military?
- The beep? There's no evidence that the alien ever had any intentions of attacking the planet. And again, there's no evidence the alien was homicidal.
- Torture is never helpful. People will tell whatever lie will get the torture to stop. The information gained is rarely if ever reliable.
