No comments on the new episode, Mosquito Coast? I guess not much to say, the usual "shall we forge ahead or stop and camp?" drama.
I like Josh, but aside form grabbing that caiman, he hasn't done much. He seemed a bit of a drag on Grady, not wanting to move on, complaining about being hungry, getting sore while rowing halfway across the lake. Grady even talked about buiding a friction fire, which was usually the hippie's job. -

Yes, I was wondering the same. Usually after a new episode airs is when you see the most comments. It seems that as the show goes on, the episodes generate less and less comments at the board?
I wonder if that's a sign that the end is not too far off? -

As I sais in my response above to the OP, it was kind of a nondescript episode. They didn't DO much in it, other than play with the "chemistry set."

The revolving partners seems like their solution to save the show. Too bad they haven't thought about making it more about survival and less about the drama of 2 different mindsets.

Have to agree. I'm beginning to think the whole season might end up like the first two lackluster episodes. In both of these episodes there really hasn't even been a reason for the guys to disagree other than arguing for the sake of arguing.
In both episodes Josh was correct in staying put. In particular he was right in the jungle episode. The had just exhausted themselves building a raft. They already had a shelter built with a fire still burning and a known food source in the area along with water vines. It made no sense to run off half cocked on a raft and have to paddle across and then have to start all over with no practically no daylight left. -

EXACTLY. I think one of the most important things Les Stroud ever conveyed on his show was how long before dark you should stop and make camp. Plus, building that raft was not a low impact project. Not sure I'd want to set off on it in crocodile infested waters with darkness a relatively short time away after an exhausting days work. Better to rest and start fresh in the morning. Its not like there were risks involved in staying.

Good point. Josh is the experienced raftsman of the two, and if he thinks it's better to start fresh, there are probably good reasons for it. Even after getting a meal and a night's rest, his arm still got sore halfway across. It would have probably been worse if he had been tired at the end of the day and fighting time pressure due to nightfall coming on.

While we're on the subject of Josh being an experienced rafter, remember in the their first episode together when Grady couldn't believe Josh wasn't enthusiastic about the raft they found? Josh IS a a very experienced rafter and Grady should have trusted his opinion.

It was kind of a nondescript episode. Not much to talk about other than the same old argument. Maybe they need to change the theme song to The Clash, Should I Stay or Should I Go. I do think Grady goes a little overboard about pressing on with their mission. Josh mentioned camping at the boat site because it was getting close to the end of the day. Grady wanted to press on because they MIGHT be only a short distance from the water. But press on until dark then have no time (and light) to build a shelter and fire? I would think the obvious answer would be for Josh to start setting up a camp site while Grady scouts ahead. But then there would be no "drama."
I know what you mean about fire being the "hippie job." Its almost always the hippie that starts the fire. But in all fairness it was Josh who said the grass they were using for tinder needed to be broken up more.
