That one producer said that they read the Twitter backlash over Bill's crying jag. So maybe they were aware that Bill was not very popular and got rid of him. A shame, in a way, since I had gotten used to him after a rocky start. But I'd still rather watch Matt. Oh well.

Matt had his strange moments, too. But Bill was strange on steroids. LOL I heard something about Discovery developing a show just for Matt. Don't know if that's true or just a rumor, but I hope its for real.

Shoot, even Grady has had his strange moments, especially on the behind the scenes episode.

I think Grady was being funny. Bill is like that all the time. That makes a difference. LOL

Well, I suppose there's a reason why Bill's official logo can be found in the link below

While that's probably true, I was never able to see them that way due to Joe's even stranger over the top reactions to Matt's behavior.

I really, really want this to be for real. I know people think he was too good for Dual Survival and that's true but I hated seeing him leave the show. I really liked that no matter what situation they were in he was the same. He just always portrayed a calm, confident demeanor. I always thought it was weird that Joe never noticed it or let it be known to the audience how reassuring that can be in a survival scenario.

I'm hoping its true and that it won't be some gimmicky deal like Naked and Afraid. I recently watched a few episodes during a marathon. Hate to say it but I didn't care whether or not they survived. LOL
Yes, staying calm IS important in a survival situation. Joe, and to a lesser extend Grady, always want to rush forward. Sometimes its best to stay calm, look around, and see what you have and what you need to survive. If you have what you need for the time being, relax a little and figure out how to take as much of it with you as possible. That won't work out as well if you if you're in a constant hyper state of "we gotta get out of here."

I don't think Matt acted that weird. His biggest "weird" moment I remember was him doing yoga in the Himalayas. While I wouldn't be doing that in a survival situation, I do think it would be cool to do yoga in the Himalayas, considering all the history there and the monasteries and all. I also got an impression he was playing that up for the producers, to exhibit some "primitive survivalist" behavior, and to rile up Joe.
The primitive survivalists don't really fit the show, because the show is about moving on and getting rescued. The really good survivalists like Matt could just sit and thrive in a lot of those places, they wouldn't need to be rescued. And if it weren't for the TV show, they might just sit put and enjoy the surroundings.

His behavior towards the crew reminded me of the episode after Cody was fired and they showed a lot of behind the scenes stuff that didn't make Cody look very good. Combine that with the fact that there was basically no scenes shown where Bill was interacting with the crew and I have to wonder if he was a scumbag like Cody.
How is Cody a scumbag? If anything both he and Matt were skrewed over by Discovery.

His treatment of the crew and his condescending attitude he had towards Dave and Joe.
There were numerous scenes in the behind the scenes episode where his treatment of the crew was absolutely horrible.
I also remember a few times where he would throw a temper tantrum and refuse to start a fire, help build shelter.
If anything both he and Matt were skrewed over by Discovery.
Matt might have got screwed over although there are rumors that Discovery is developing a show for him.
I don't think Cody got screwed over. By the time he was fired he had a become a bigger problem than Joe. He went insane in one episode over Joe's sunglasses.

Don't know what Cody's problem was/is. He isn't "anti-profit," judging by what he charges his survival school. But he doesn't want to sell much of anything in the way of gear. I recall his web site saying they would only sell limited items. Being in business, I would think sales and endorsement would be a nice addition to my revenue stream. If HE doesn't want to make more money, fine, its his choice. To dictate that his co-star couldn't either was wrong.

I kind of like that he doesn't sell any gear. I have heard of people who bought gear from other survivalists and they did not have good experiences with them.
I don't know if it's true or whether or not they used them properly.
To dictate that his co-star couldn't either was wrong.
Totally agree but I think it was about more than endorsements for Cody. It looked to me like one of those workplace incidents where two coworkers hate each other and one day something minor like forgetting to throw away a soda can from lunch makes the other one snap.
Maybe I'm wrong but I think something else must have happened earlier or maybe it was just really bright out that day and Cody hated that Joe had protection for his eyes while he didn't.

Calling Cody a scumbag is way out of line.
He is a little unhinged and had a few poor moments but I think he was just burned out. He was not physically fit enough for the show and his fatigue affected his performance and mental health.
