Roanoke was such a disappointment, and then Cult, I couldn't make it past one (or maybe I gave it 2) tries, I'm not sure. But both of those just fell off the map, and ruined an otherwise impeccable franchise.
After everything prior, Roanoke felt cheap.

Do you remember how they didn't reveal in advance the subject matter of Roanoke?
I think they released 6 little filmettes and you had to guess which it was, in retrospect none fitted the actual subject! But I was genuinely quite pleased, thinking ok this could be interesting but it really wasn't
By that point the whole found footage/internet ghost hunter thing had been done to death. They really missed the boat.
Then with Cult, the first episode about the election was so much of a turn off because again, everyone had it up to here with it already. -

Exactly how I feel about them both.
I was sick of the found footage trope. It felt messy and overdone.
The reaction to the election and how they politicized it out of the gate, - by that point I felt exhausted with the whole thing. The whole breaking down, shrieking after the election, I was like, "dear God, here we go again."

I only saw 2 episodes (maybe?) of Cult, and just couldn't get through it. I actually don't even know if I made it past the first episode. I don't remember. Just didn't grab me the way all the other ones have.
Roanoke would be the next yucky season. It brought nothing at all to the table.

Evan Peters won't be in it at all? But I thought he was in the trailer? I thought for sure they'd capitalize on Sarah Paulson given how popular she is with every character she plays.

But I was just commenting on what I personally think of when I think of 80's. Watching the horror movies from that time, I wonder how many cans of hairspray died in the making of each scene!
