SO disappointing…

To be fair it could be a spell she put on him. He didn't even know her and he is "in love with her"? She IS a witch so maybe it'll show where it was some sort of spell? He did seem like he was in a trance when they were going at it in the woods.
However if the show fails to address this then yeah, that's pretty dumb. -

See, I've been burned by AHS many times before. I'm fully expecting them to fail to ever bring it up again. Now that Matt is dead, I fully expect that they will never bring up the witch's sway that she held over him. She'll probably have one more scene, where she takes out another cast member and then she'll disappear into the night and that'll be that. I hope the show surprises me.

I honestly wouldn't be surprised if they never mentioned it again either. Last season left so many things unanswered. That is the things that didn't just have crap endings (coughSallycough).
I'll give them the benefit of a doubt though. Maybe they'll give an explanation because it does kind of feel like they just did that to give Shelby an "excuse" to snap and kill him. Which is odd too because she did love him and while she wasn't perfectly mentally sound, she didn't seem like the type to up and murder her husband in a fit of rage.
I'm trying not to overthink it because I am enjoying this season for what it is. It's far from perfect but it's kept me entertained and I'm interested in seeing how it ends. -

I figured the ghost might be Evan peters character who played mott. I just dont get how people are praising this episode. As far as found footage goes I've see all this done WAYY better. It just seemed lazy and the worst part not at all scary. It just felt like they were trying way to hard to be crazy and weird. I want to love this season so much as it uses found footage which I love. I find good in the beep found footage movies but this I cant. Now my complaints pertain the the last 2 episodes. I like the first half and wanted to see them continue with the mythology but it seems its pure shock value at this point. Even next week just seems like more nonstop madness without much else. I hope im proven wrong. Like a lot of people I think asylum is one of the best horror shows ever as everything about it was good. Great mythology while still having great suspense and mystery and the writing was great. So I know ryan is totally capable and sometimes like a chapter in a book eps might not be great alone but much better when factored in with the rest of the show. As far as ep 10 twist what else could it be but yet again RTR being another staged hoax? Which I would assume if it is the case ep 10 would just again be complete insanity as the real ghosts do there thing

I agree that Edward Mott's "real" ghost screaming in the tunnel was definitely the creepiest part. Otherwise, this new found footage format has turned a promising season into a turd of poorly written gross out gore scenes stitched together with quick cuts, scotch tape, and a little bit of hope. It's been really sad to see the show collapse on itself so quickly.
The characters are pathetic this time around. No one has any motivations AT ALL. Matt telling Shelby that he was "in love" with the witch was just about the funniest thing I've seen on television all year because of how out of left field it was. Shelby smashing his skull in seemed to pale in comparison, and that's when you know things are really poorly written when a character's death is less surprising than his revelation that he's in love with another character. It reminded me of Hotel last year, when Tristan suddenly revealed that he was "in love" with Liz, when he had never even had a scene with her before that. -

Yeah, it's possible that the end makes the whole thing make more sense but I have a feeling it'll feel like too many manufactured twists. We'll see. This is definitely the weakest characterization season and it's not even close.
