I think that was a problem a lot of adult viewers had with it, and it was a very bitchy season which gets a bit much. If you're going to binge a rewatch, keep your focus on the older characters, and the nasty themes. Just have the teens there as window dressing. Might help your entertainment. Have fun, champ.
Also, you might already know this but Denis stayed in character on set as soon as he went through wardrobe and makeup, so let that carry you away when ever you watch my screen crush. Brilliant acting. I LUV EWE, DENIS!!! -

My biggest problem was the campiness.
I also do not find Emma or Taissa to be compelling as actors and they had WAY too much of the heavy lifting. Oddly though, I dont mind Emma on Scream Queens, because the one persona she plays works in comedy.
I thought the stakes werent high enough. I was rolling my eyes every time someone was brought back from the dead. I have read (but cannot confirm) that Madison was supposed to stay dead, but Ryan caved to the pressure from the new tween audience and resurrected her.
I also hated how the writing for Delphine was all over the friggin place. One second shes a monster, then shes a meek house maid, then shes pitiful because progress has passed her by. The buddy comedy moments with Queenie made me cringe. That woman would NEVER have associated with Queenie under ANY circumstances. Im from the south and I know from whence I speak.
Coven could have been horrifying, but instead we got the prototype for Scream Queens. Again, I enjoy Scream Queens, but that show is a sitcom that just happens to have the plot of a slasher movie, and not at all in the same genre as AHS.
Things I did like: Myrtle Snow, the nod to Evil Dead, and Angela Bassett.

That all seems fair enough.
Just to give my Pov, what I liked about it was
the look of it. It was eye candy for me. Cineamtography, the set, clothes, colour palette.
Denis Denis Denis
The relationship dynamics and conflicts
Unnerving themes.
I can take or leave the younguns. I dont mind them but I dont miss them when they're not in it.
Good call about Delphine and Queenie. I like these tips from you americanos. -

Thinking back on it, one thing that grated my gears was ball breaking women -v- lily livered men. I just dont like that. I cant tell if Ryan hates women, or he just wanted to give women a platform to turn the tides. Seems a step back to me. I'd prefer to see genders showcased a bit more on an equal playing field, but that's just me.

In response to your two above posts, I loved art direction, trhe cinematography and the costuming as well.
I can see what you are saying about the ball-busting-broads trope, but I was prepared for that from Murphy discussing the season beforehand. It was a season of Womyn-Power.
Interestingly, I dont remember much of Jessica Lange that season except for her punchlines about needing a new rug and Knotty Pine (which was priceless.)
Off to the gym to feign being butch.
Ciao for now.

I loved it as it was airing, too. Not our fault that the haters only notice those who agree with them and then when the passion for hatred starts wearing off, you're all so shocked to notice those who actually LIKE the show :)). Quite typical, really.

The internet has made ridiculous monsters of all of us. Suddenly people like Hotel. On a similar note, people are saying Gaga's new songs are too "normal" whereas for her last album people were complaining she was just too weird. You can't win with people nowadays because the internet lets us see an opinion and very very easily jump on the bandwagon. Our culture is ridiculous today. Take me back to the 90s or something. At least people had fun then.

Hotel was nice. Some of you people just have some really odd taste, I don't question that, everyone has a right to their own opinion. Personally I think Asylum followed by Coven were the worst ones in the series, oh wait the Freak Show is probably somewhere in between those two.

Funny, that's what I think about people who like Hotel so much. Not trying to be snarky, lol, just didn't find anything scary about Hotel aside from some of the acting (some of it was great though, admittedly: O'Hare & Perers were the best). The Drilldo demon was disturbing but felt like little more than shock value. Most everything else was forgettable, at least to me.
