Jake did 6 months of ride alongs with the LAPD ???

Here's a question Was he paid for it, or did he volunteer to do it to learn about his character?
If he was paid, how much would he have got vs. his filming fees/salary?

Jake is well known for being a serious method actor.
He wasn't paid for it per se, but he did insist in his contract on being allowed to shoot at least one 'suspect'. To protect all parties it was done with the plant gun (carried in all cruisers), which was then placed on the 'suspect' and a suicide declared. Sources can't be confirmed, but one officer was allegedly heard to say Mr. Gyllenhaal was 'giggling like a child' as he ran after, and fired the five rounds from the revolver at, the fleeing man, two bullets finding their mark.
      then whoa, differences

          No, just a lie.
