American Gods, no contest.
I am happy for Twin Peaks, but I already know I won't be watching it until after the season is over, however long that may be. AG is based on one of my favorite books, by a favorite author, adapted by my favorite TV writer, and has a freaking amazing cast. Plus it has the "newness" - I generally only watch new shows weekly for a season or so and then they become something to binge once each season is over. (Game of Thrones is the only current exception to that.)

It basically boils down to:
compelling but already defined story from a great author who's had a number of terrible screen adaptations of his work
Vs
likely a minimal story with the potential to be made brilliant in the hands of one of the masters of atmospheric, visual storytelling
Or, in an even more concise form:
American Gods: Do you trust them to gather a capable cast and crew?
Vs
Twin Peaks: Do you trust David Lynch to come up with a great story?
They both have the potential to be great. They both have the potential to be stinkers. It's hard to tell at this point. -

Twin Peaks. That third-rate "comedian" Dane Cook is gonna be in AG and they've rewritten a character just so he could appear in as many episodes as possible. This alone is enough for me to not watch or support that show.
