Which one are you most excited for?
American Gods or the new season of Twin Peaks?

American Gods, by far. That's not to say I'm not excited for the return of Twin Peaks. I am. But American Gods is by my absolute favorite author ever, it's got one of the most stellar casts ever assembled, and there's just so much to the story.

I agree. I am also more hyped for American Gods. Didn't like season 2 of Twin Peaks the way I liked season 1. But I hope season 3 is better than season 2. Hopefully since David Lynch is directing again it will be great.
Btw, it's cool that there is a first look at American Gods today.

Twin Peaks did go off the rails for a bit in the second season, for sure. I have a fear that that series may not actually be able to recapture the magic of the first season. But I am really hopeful about American Gods. The trailer looks fantastic but we haven't really seen anything about Twin Peaks yet.
I'm really hoping that both are great, but AG is what I'm most excited and hopeful about. It's my favorite book right now (or at least, favorite genre book).

                      American Gods, no contest.
I am happy for Twin Peaks, but I already know I won't be watching it until after the season is over, however long that may be. AG is based on one of my favorite books, by a favorite author, adapted by my favorite TV writer, and has a freaking amazing cast. Plus it has the "newness" - I generally only watch new shows weekly for a season or so and then they become something to binge once each season is over. (Game of Thrones is the only current exception to that.)

                        It basically boils down to:
compelling but already defined story from a great author who's had a number of terrible screen adaptations of his work
                        Vs
likely a minimal story with the potential to be made brilliant in the hands of one of the masters of atmospheric, visual storytelling
Or, in an even more concise form:
American Gods: Do you trust them to gather a capable cast and crew?
                        Vs
Twin Peaks: Do you trust David Lynch to come up with a great story?
They both have the potential to be great. They both have the potential to be stinkers. It's hard to tell at this point.

It would be a crime to possess varying degrees of excitement for these two shows. All I can say is, it's a great time to be alive.

Twin Peaks. That third-rate "comedian" Dane Cook is gonna be in AG and they've rewritten a character just so he could appear in as many episodes as possible. This alone is enough for me to not watch or support that show.

Cook's playing a corpse, I don't know how much screen time he's going to get
Also, they've rewritten a few characters. Which one are you referring to?
