Archived from the IMDb Discussion Forums — My Cat from Hell

I watch this show on and off and it seems to me that the most common recommendation that Jackson has to any cat problem is play.either by using interactive toys to play with your cat or giving him enough engaging toys to entertain himself. Has anyone else noticed this? It's almost as if these cat owners were either too lazy or too busy to interact with their kitties. It's a shame so many people (even owners) look at cats as creatures who don't need to be doted on or paid attention to.

Playing with the cats to exhaustion definitely helps ..especially when the cats have nervous energy and start getting into things etc. I've tried some of his suggestions.. definitely works. Most of the people on his show do not even have a toy for the poor cat.. no wonder is has issues.

Yeah most of these people just don't get it. Cats are just like people in that they have a certain amount of energy they need to exhaust daily, and if they don't find positive ways of doing so they will go stir crazy and start expelling it in negative ways. It's not that hard to grasp.
And yeah I've noticed that on here too. Yes some of the cases Jackson has dealt with were pretty complicated so I can see why those people were confused, but most were pretty simple.
If you don't want to be spoiled, you shouldn't be here in the first place.

Yeah one thing I notice about this show is how fat most of the cats are. I can't help but think that most of them would be better-behaved with more physical activity and better quality food.

For some humans interacting with their cat is just petting them. They tend to assume that the cat will amuse (exercise) itself. And it may, just not how they want it to.
